Heading off on a camping holiday is one of the best ways to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature, and there’re lots of great places to head near Price, UT. From full-service RV lots to rustic woodland retreats, there’s something for everyone at these brilliant campgrounds.
1. Scofield State Park Campgrounds
Located high in the Manti-La Sal mountains above Price, Scofield State Park offers year-round recreation. In the summer months, visitors can fish, boat, or swim in the lake, while in the winter many come to enjoy the spectacular cross-country skiing, as well as to play on snowmobiles and ice fish in the frozen lake. The area is divided into two separate day and overnight use areas with separate amenities to accommodate all visitors.
There are two campgrounds to choose from in the park: Madsen Bay and Mountain View. If you’re in a tent or have only a small travel trailer, then head up to Mountain View, which is situated closer to the dam, and has some incredible views out over the lake. If you have a larger trailer or RV, then the recently-renovated Madsen Bay might be the best for you, with its larger sites and electrical and water hookups.
2. Huntington State Park Campsite
This small reservoir and state park is just off to UT-10 to the southwest of Price, and is an ideal spot for boating, water-skiing, and fishing, while dramatic, chiseled peaks provide a spectacular backdrop behind towering limestone cliffs. There are all the amenities you could need here, including access to a beach, a boat launch ramp, and a picnic shelter. Pets are allowed throughout the park.
The park campground consists of a well-spaced loop with a total of 28 sites, all of which can be reserved easily online. Most have some form of hookups, with either full electrical and water or just electricity. Accessible, modern restrooms and hot showers are available for all campers to use, and all sites are equipped with a fire pit, a grill, and a picnic table.
3. Bridges Campground
Brides Campground is located in the gorgeous Huntington Canyon, deep in the mountains to the west of Price, off the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway. The recreation activities on offer here are endless, and range from fishing and hunting to hiking and rock climbing, with everything in between. The trout fishing is particularly good in Huntington Creek, which has been designated a blue ribbon fishery, due to the quality of trout it produces.
The campground has one group site that can accommodate up to 30 people, as well as four single-family campsites. While there are vault toilets here, the campsite is otherwise light on facilities, with no running water or electricity, and only dirt roads and tracks.
