Price, UT is a wonderful area known for mind-blowing landscapes and nature adventures. With some of the top destinations in the country for outdoor activities, this region has a lot to offer. So whether you’re looking to take a short walk on your lunch break or go camping for a few days, here are some places to consider.
1. Price River Trail
This park has incredible mountain views, is close to town, and has a nature path that is a short, easy walk. Taking a break from being indoors and doing something as simple as eating lunch outside can do wonders for your health. If you want to take it a step further and do a workout outside, there is a large fitness area that is popular with locals.
2. Wood Hill Trail System
Featuring some of the most scenic views in the entire state, this is a sought-after travel destination for many mountain bike enthusiasts. But with over 30 miles of trails, it’s also set up nicely for hikers and runners. That doesn’t sound like a lot but this area is still considered remote, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. Each trail has its description and is rated by difficulty to promote safety among visitors.
3. Gordon Creek Waterfalls
Visiting natural bodies of water is a fantastic way to connect with nature. You can sit back and listen to the water flow or jump in for an invigorating swim in either of the two waterfalls. Go another couple miles past the larger falls and you’ll find an old abandoned log cabin that is a real treat on the eyes. 4. Desert Wave Pool
But maybe you’re looking for some water without all the hiking. Fun for the whole family, the Desert Wave Pool is a great place to cool off and lounge outdoors while the kids wear themselves out splashing in the wave pool, scaling the rock climbing wall, or leaping off one of the diving boards. Known for having a friendly staff and clean facilities, you’ll find everything you need including concessions, lockers, and showers.
5. Price Canyon Recreation Area
Some people are looking to spend more time outdoors than an afternoon hike allows. If you want to spend the night under the stars, you’ll love this spot that has longer trails and higher elevations. The 4.7-mile hike up to Ford’s Ridge is the longest and is considered to be moderately challenging. Bring your refillable water bottles because drinking water is supplied along with 12 large campsites, fire pits, and toilets.
Most of the roads in this area lead to adventure, and one of the most important things for you to consider is getting to and from these locations safely. Driving around what is known as the carbon corridor can be challenging, especially in the winter.
